US Automakers Take On Chinese Market
Ford has decided that they will be taking a more aggressive approach to dealing with their business in China. The automakers have decided that they will be building 100 dealerships in China, all of which are planned to open sometime in 2011. Ford has said that they expect a large percentage of their growth over the next ten years to come from cars sold in China due to the Chinese people embracing the Ford technology.
In addition, Ford is expected to introduce new cars and concepts that are designed specifically for the Chinese market and what they value in an automobile. However, Ford is not the only automaker that is trying to cash in on the Chinese market. General Motors has already made plans to unveil a few new dealerships to the area, while Nissan has also teamed up with a Chinese company to do the same.
When looking at the facts, GM has a more sustainable lead over Ford, despite having to be bailed out by the government, GM has done relatively well over in China. Which means that Ford has a bit of catching up to do. However, Ford is hopeful. Especially after they have already seen vehicles, like the Ford Fiesta that is reasonably priced, begin to become a popular sight in the Chinese streets. However, GM has the same idea, as they have introduced the Baojun 630 Sedan that is only for the Chinese market and was designed with what the Chinese people would want in a vehicle, which has many believing that it will be a top seller.
So what does this mean for Ford or any other automaker that is thinking about venturing into the Chinese market? As of right now, no one can really predict what will happen, no one expected GM to have such success in the market, thus they are still not sure that Ford will find the same success. However, at this point anything is possible.
