Automakers Using Extreme Sports Event to Spur Business

Big automakers are having their names pasted everywhere, including extreme sports. Why this sudden change of venue? Most of these big automakers are just trying to increase their public image, what better way to do this than sponsoring some of the biggest extreme sports competitions held anywhere. They are hoping to reach out to a new demographic, thus opening up a new strand of potential customers for their brands. In addition, many automakers are pointing out that those that participate in these events are loyal to its supporters, thus the chances of making a sale are imminent.

Ford will be sponsoring the series of Ironman triathlon, Dodge is sponsoring the Dodge Rock n' Roll marathons that are held in Los Angeles and Virginia Beach, while Nissan is supporting events like the Marine Corps and New York City marathon. Most big companies are starting to realize the potential that these events can give their brand name, and even though many are struggling to make ends meet, they are viewing this as an investment that can make a return on their profits.

Most of the major automakers are arguing that those who participate in these events are influential members in their community, thus they could influence people to buy a certain car brand. And that car brand would be who supported them, and shed thousands of hundreds of dollars to make the event possible.

Ford has even said that they have seen that the consideration of their vehicles have grown by 8% since they began to sponsor the Ironman triathlon. These kind of statistics are what other companies are hoping will happen to them. During the Ironman competition, Ford takes the times to highlight a few vehicles that they believe would be of interest to those participating and watching the event.

Despite the automakers spending money that they may not have, the results of sponsoring these events seem to be worth it. And the future will more than likely show more automakers following in the footsteps of Ford, Dodge and Nissan.
