Automakers Strike it Big at Super Bowl
The Super Bowl let the world know that automakers are back in a big way. Though the Super Bowl may have been a disappointment to some, the automakers that aired their commercials during this time are definitely waking up with smiles on their faces today. So for those that missed the Super Bowl and the awesome commercials, let's recap.
The winner of the Super Bowl was the Green Bay Packers, however, they were not the only ones that are going to feel like winners today. All of the automakers out there, Chevrolet, BMW, Audi, Kia, Hyundai, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mini, Suzuki, and Mercedes-Benz all represented their new lineup through the commercials that aired that supposedly cost around $3 million per 30 seconds.
Chevrolet aired quite a few commercials for their cars, including the Cruze, Camaro, Volt, and the Silverado. Though the majority of their commercials were good and really displayed the vehicle in a positive light, the one commercial that aired about the fuel economy of the Cruze left little to be desired.
Mercedes-Benz was able to get Sean "Puffy" Combs to appear on their commercial that highlighted the SLS Roadster, C Class Coupe, CLS Sedan and SLK hardtop roadster. Overall, the effect was one that most people liked and it really made people stand up and pay attention to the brand.
Chrysler probably had one of the biggest named stars to help with their advertising in Eminem. The brand talked about its origin and let people know that they were back. It was definitely a hit.
Volkswagen probably had one of the best commercials all night with the Passat in which a small child was attempting to use the force to get things to listen to him. The father started the car by remote control and the child was speechless. Not only was it hilarious, but adorable as well. It displayed the new Passat as the family car that they are trying to be and with success.
Audi and BMW had misses with their commercials that were rather lengthy and while watching most people did not even realize that it was an automotive commercial. Overall though, Super Bowl seemed to be full of hits for automakers.
