Chevrolet Debuts Camaro Convertible

The new Chevrolet Camaro convertible photos have been released in various magazines, most notably the Neiman Marcus Holiday Catalog, however, its official debut was at the 2010 LA Auto Show. There were tons of debuts at the LA Auto Show, however, this may have been the most anticipated sports car.

Engine wise, the same engines offered in the Camaro coupe will also be available with the convertible. In addition, manual or automatic transmissions will be offered. However, for those that choose an automatic transmission they will drop from 426 horsepower to 400 horsepower with the V8 engine, but that is still a decent number for a sports car. While the V6 engine will offer 312 horsepower.

Good news for all those Camaro enthusiasts out there. However, the time in which the convertible will go from zero to sixty will increase when compared to the coupe, simply due to the weight of the roof. It is estimated that the time will be 5.9 seconds, which is still impressive. The coupe will do the speed in about 4.6 seconds. In addition, Chevrolet has said that there should be no changes in the dynamics of the car, which is sometimes the case when convertibles are built, but Chevy has done their homework on this car and people can expect to be getting one of the best Camaro convertibles that Chevy has ever manufactured.

Not much is known about the equipment yet, as Chevrolet is keeping the information under wraps. However, it is known that price wise, people can expect to be around $6000 more than the coupe versions. Of course, the bigger engine will cost a bit more.

In regard to the top color, people will have the option of a tan or black soft top, typical colors for any convertible. The orders are expected to be starting on these cars, while delivery is set in sometime during February of 2011.
