Chrysler Recalling Minivans
Chrysler has announced that they will be recalling around three hundred thousand minivans. And unfortunately, it is the same types of minivans that were recalled a while ago for a problem with condensation with the heating and air tubes that are found in the minivan. And with this recall the tubes were replaced to eliminate the chances of having condensation form. And just what is the problem now? It is yet another problem with the heating and cooling system. This time it would seem that the heating and cooling problem could trigger the air bags to deploy. This is from the condensation of the heating and cooling tubes leaking onto a sensor module that would cause the air bag light to start blinking. Which as everyone knows can make the air bag a ticking time bomb and it could go off as though the person were involved in an accident.
So just which minivans are being affected? It is the 2008 versions of several minivans that are under the Chrysler name. These include the Grand Voyager, Dodge Grand Caravan and the Town and Country. Chrysler has said that they are going to fix the problem free of charge.
For anyone that does have a vehicle that is affected, they should be getting a notice in the mail that is telling them of this problem. However, people should realize that it is not every 2008 model of these vans that are being affected. If the person has doubt about this they can go to their local Chrysler dealer to have the VIN number ran and checked to see if the problem does exist for their model or not.
The problem was brought to the attention of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by Italy Fiat SpA who have a majority share in the company. Therefore, there has been no known accidents that have been associated with this.
