The New Dodge Ram Pickup
In the year 2013 Chrysler's Ram Truck is planning on offering a light-duty front-drive pickup. It is going to be built on a redesigned minivan platform. They are expected to aim this new pickup at the buyers who want a better fuel mileage from their trucks, especially their full size pickup truck. These buyers also do not need a regular full size pickup trucks hauling capability and toughness. This vehicle will be targeted at the Honda Ridgeline pickup.
Ram stated in a meeting with their suppliers that they are going to develop this pickup truck based on its front-dive minivan platform. The name of this new and improved Chrysler Ram pick up truck will be TR Ram Life Style Truck. This pickup truck is expected to have an annual production volume of fifteen thousand to twenty thousand units and will be assembled at minivan assembly plant in Windsor, Ontario. This same Chrysler plant also assembles the Dodge Caravan, The Volkswagen Routan, and the Chrysler Town and Country.
They are using this new Ram pickup truck as an "insurance" policy to keep jobs at the plant and to have three shifts working at full capacity. In 2014, Chrysler and Dodge minivans are expected to be redesigned. Which of the newly redesigned vehicles, the pickup truck, or the minivans, will go on sale first is still undecided.
With gas prices still hovering around four dollars a gallon, this new light duty Ram pickup truck would be a great addition for anyone who loves to drive a truck. This new light duty pickup truck will also be a diesel as with all the other trucks in the Chrysler Ram family.
If you and your family are in the market for a new pickup truck, but do not need the towing capacity of a regular full size truck, this would be the truck for you.
