Ford Getting in on Hybrid Market

Ford has been sitting back watching as more and more automakers are making profits off of their hybrid and electric cars. However, Ford has not had much of that pie. But, they are hoping to change that with their new ideas for getting into the market. Their first project is their new car that is going to compete with Volt and the Prius, two of the main competitors on the hybrid market.

Ford is taking a page from Toyota's book and they are going to offer the new C-Max hatchback as a hybrid only. There are not going to be any other offerings such as the Prius is offered by Toyota. They are going to offer around two options that are going to be environmentally friendly. The hybrid option that will work off of batteries and gas powered. They are also going to have a plug in version available for people to buy, which is going to put them on the map with the Volt and other plug ins on the market.

Ford is hoping that they are going to be able to lower the cost of producing these cars because they are going to offer two versions. For consumers it means that they are going to get to choose from having a car that runs on batteries for a certain period of time then switching over to gasoline, or they can choose to have a car that is going to require being charged up. There is no word yet as to what the C-Max is going to cost consumers, but they are going to find that it should be competitively priced to stay in the market and be appealing to consumers.

The C-Max is set to go on sale in 2012, and between then and now, there should be more information released throughout this time to spur on the sales of the C-Max when it does hit the show rooms.
