Ford Increases Recall to 1.2 Million

The United States regulators and the Ford company have increased the number of F-150's that they are recalling. With numbers now reaching over the one million mark. Those that are affected are the years from 2003 to 2006 models. The problem that officials are fearing is that the F150 has a short circuit that could simply go off and cause the air bags to deploy without any reason to do this. The recall for this problem is also covering some Lincoln Mark LT vehicles as well.

The good news is that those with affected vehicles are going to notice that the air bag light on the console is going to light up to warn people to get their vehicle serviced. If anyone who drives these kinds of vehicles and notices that the light does come on, then the company is urging them to get it into the nearest Ford dealer in order to find out what the problem is for the vehicle.

Ford has stated that they are starting to warn owners in May, and will be fixing the problem at no charge to the customer. In order to fix this the mechanic is going to have to replace a small wire in the steering wheel. They estimate the repair will take less than half a day on most vehicles. Ford is reporting that they have not had any accidents reported that has the person driving down the road and the air bags deploying. They do know of one accident in which the air bag deployed in the driveway right after the truck was started. And they are stating that the majority of times if the air bag is going to deploy, then it is going to do so shortly after ignited the truck.

Ford did report that when the air bag deployment does happen, the person is going to be able to still drive the vehicle. Though there has been several small injuries that were reported due to this air bag deploying, without the truck being involved in an accident. Damages such as bruised and cuts on the face, broken teeth and so forth.
