The Future of GM
The bankruptcy of General Motors in 2009, could be the one thing that is saving the company now that they are starting to slowly come back from the devastating financial blow. The company is now focusing their efforts on the customers, before the bankruptcy they focused on everything but the customers of their vehicles, and everyone knows how that turned out for the company.
Before the bankruptcy, GM has admitted that many times that just produced the cars that their plants were set up to handle. Therefore, they were limited in what they could offer customers. Executives from GM even said that sometimes they simply produced cars to have them on hand for dealers to try to sell. And this is where GM started to get into trouble.
So how does GM plan on changing this habit that nearly cost them to become an extinct brand? They are now focusing on only providing those vehicles that are of high quality and meet the needs and wants that customers are wanting. The new Chief Executive of GM is making sure that customers are the main focus of the company and is making other huge changes as well. For example, there is now going to be a director of their global business so that they can also increase their dominance all over the globe, as well as naming new faces to the product lines and attacking advertising in a new way.
The new Chief Executive is also making sure that he is out there learning about what customers want as well as those that are employees of the company. This is something new for the company as well. He has been known to have focus groups with average GM consumers in order to truly get their opinion and ways in which to improve their vehicles to their satisfaction. With this kind of devotion to its customers, GM is likely to rebound even more than it has in the past few months.
