GM Announces Plant Improvement Plans
With the recalls that General Motors has just issued, some good news should follow. And GM has announced this good news. They plan to invest around $131 million in their Bowling Green, Kentucky plant in order to prepare for the plant for the making of the redesigned Corvette. However, these changes are not set to place until two models later, as the plant will still be working on the 2012 Corvette in the same facility as it is now. During this year as they are working on the 2012 Corvette, they are going to be making changes to the plant for the upcoming models.
The company has not said how they are making improvements to the facility to handle the car. However, we can only figure that this is going to result in more lines that are going to be added to the floor and more equipment to make the new Corvette. GM has said that once the improvement is finished that they are going to be adding around 250 workers, which is good news for the employment rates in the area of Bowling Green.
GM has already said that the Corvette has improved its selling power. From January to April the Corvette sold 22% more than it did during the same time last year, speaking to the number of people that are wanting quality made, American manufactured cars. Many people are wondering about the money that the company plans to invest and if they are really making the right decision?
After all, most people are not wanting a repeat of what happened in 2009. However, people should put their fears to rest, as GM is making more profit than almost any other automaker out there, so much so that they are up to take the first place in the global market. However, with the investments that they are making, they are going to make them back eventually.
