GM To Become Number One Globally

Big news for General Motors who is on the path to take the first place in the auto market and become the dominant global automaker. This is after they declared bankruptcy in 2009 and pulled themselves through a slippery slope in which many doubted that the automaker would be able to handle. However, they have proven themselves and shown that they are getting ready to jump passed Toyota, who has been the leading automaker for many years now. Due to the natural disaster that Toyota has suffered, along with the quality issues that they seem to be having, they are no longer considered the dominant brand throughout the globe. However, GM is set to keep this position even after Toyota starts back to its production once again. 

GM has even gained popularity in China and Japan with their offering of cheaper cars that are made better and are not having the recalls issued on them as the Toyota brand is having. It truly is a Cinderella story for GM who lost the position in 2008 after losing around $30 billion in sales and so forth. However, they are taking it back, but many wonder just how long with GM be able to hold their ground? 

VW has already said that they plan to out GM of its position in the market, and hopes to become the super star that GM and Toyota has been in the past. VW has already started to produce many of their products and ship them to Japan in order to win the loyalty of Japanese consumers. However, with the GM Malibu in competition with VW, it would seem that the winner is really going to be determined by the Chinese people. 

However, those that are seeking the global title, should make sure that they do not let it go to their head, as Toyota did. As soon as it became number one the quality of car that they produced lacked. Therefore, professionals are holding their breath to see what, if anything, will happen to GM.
