GM To Sell Used Cars on Ebay Motors
General Motors announced Friday that it is planning to sell around 3,900 used vehicles on Ebay Motors soon. This news could be the turning point for the used car sales throughout the United States, not to mention a huge turning point for General Motors.
According to General Motors, the listings will be free for the dealers and that only those dealers that are certified to sell pre-owned General Motors vehicles will be posting these cars and trucks on the huge Internet sales site. GM plans to have a list of those dealers that are reputable to purchase from by the end of the second quarter.
GM's brands that people automatically think of such as Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac and Oldsmobile will definitely be for sale on Ebay Motors, however, so will the brands Hummer, Saab, and Saturn, despite having different certified pre-owned programs.
GM already has their pre-owned list of vehicles listed on some other three hundred sites, so this has people questioning whether it truly will help GM or not? However, if you consider just how many people utilize Ebay on a daily basis, then the thought that this would increase the number of people who will be viewing GM's pre-owned inventory is not far-fetched. In fact, GM is counting on this to increase the number of those that purchase GM pre-owned vehicles. Since, Ebay Motors site has around eleven million users, it would seem that logically this idea should improve business somewhat.
The site has yet to be finished and Ebay is currently working with GM to develop it. However, with GM releasing the list of certified pre-owned dealers by the second quarter, it is logical to think that the Ebay Motor site dedicated to GM would be ready to go around the same time.
GM has been struggling for the past few years to dominate the car market as they once did, however, with this new idea and the fact that GM is developing cars that are more fuel economic, then this may once again put GM in the lead of the pack.
