Green Cars Making Huge Step In Automotive World

General Electric Company has announced that it plans to buy as many as 25,000 rechargeable cars, with the majority of them coming from General Motors Company. This move has many people predicting that other major corporate fleets will also do the same and move towards having more green vehicles in their lineup.

GM is supposed to be selling GE around 12,000 of the new Chevrolet Volt, while Nissan will be selling to GE the Leaf. Many people are saying that as more corporations embrace the electrical vehicles that it will lead many consumers to do the same. However, consumers will be slower to respond simply due to the expense that an electrical car will cost them.

For corporations, they are going to have to shell out a bit more for an electrical car, however, they will earn that back plus more at the end of the year during tax time. Not to mention that the electricity will cost less than gasoline for these corporations.

UPS and FedEx are some of the biggest corporations that are utilizing these green vehicles, with each having around two percent of their fleet made up on these vehicles. They both will be adding more vehicle to their lineup however, have no timetable set yet.

Google Incorporation at its headquarters also utilizes around 30 green vehicles for employees to use, and are fully embracing the green concept. Hertz and Enterprise are both ordering green cars from Nissan, no word yet if they will be ordering GM's green car. However, with so many corporations turning to these green cars, it seems that these automakers should not have a problem making some profit on the green vehicles in order to make up for the costs that went into designing them.

Most people are hoping that with these corporations sporting the greener cars that the common public will also take an interest in the green car idea and purchase one as well.
