Jaguar Develops Gas Turbine Engine Car
Jaguar has developed a hybrid car with Blanden Jets that utilizes a gas turbine engine that allows the car to accelerate from zero to 62 in around 3.4 seconds. Which has to be the fastest time that any car has made that speed in that amount of time. The car has been given the name of C-X75.
The engine in the car is slightly longer than the forearm of a person, however, they are attached to four electric motors, which can make the car go around 560 miles before it has to be plugged in to get more power. The car is being known as the jet powered car since the engines are so similar to what jets would use for power.
This has long been a dream of many automakers to produce a car that utilizes a gas turbine engine, however, there are many difficulties that come along with this. A gas turbine engine is not meant to stop and start in traffic as a car does, however, Jaguar was able to make the engine more gas efficient by allowing the engine to continuously rotate even when stopped, which is something that normal engines do not do.
What is even more astonishing about the car is that the fumes that are released from the engine are actually used as a fuel for the electric engine that is stored in a lithium-ion battery. However, the engines can also burn other fuels beside electricity, which makes the car even more flexible than regular cars.
There are many other car companies out there that are trying to succeed in what Jaguar has done with Blanden Jets, however, the problem still exists that they do not really know how they could make this technology cost efficient that would put it on the consumer market. Before, these cars become popular in the world, they are going to have to find a way to make the cars less expensive.
