Nissan Announces They Will Fix Leafs For Free

Nissan has announced that they do have the intentions to fix the 5,000 Leaf's that seem to have some kind of problem with the software in the car that is causing start up problems. The company is stressing that this is not a safety issue since the car is not going to stop running once it is started, they are simply stating that once it is turned off it may not start back up, which is frustrating for those that bought these brand new vehicles.

Of the 5,300 that seems to be satisfied, only about 500 of those were sold to United States consumers. The rest of the cars are being located in Japan and Europe. They have stated that they will begin to notify consumers sometimes next week via the message board that is in contact with the Leaf at all times. The person will then be instructed to call the nearest dealer and have them fix the problem. Nissan has said that they do understand the inconvenience that this problem could cause many people along with the time that they are going to have to take in order to get it fixed. For this reason, they are having some technicians and mechanics coming to the person's place of business or home to fix the problem. Which is a great relief to many of those that have these cars that are having these problems.

Though, Nissan is making sure that they are doing their best to correct the problem, they are still not going to be able to outrun the damage that they are going to get from this problem. And this is not the damage to the cars, it is the damage to the reputation of these cars. These cars have only been on the market for not even a year as of yet and already reporting problems, it could be enough to turn consumers to the competition with the Chevrolet Volt.
