Nissan Issues Recall
Nissan is now joining the long list of recent manufacturers to issue a recall. However, Nissan’s recall is not as much of a safety hazard when compared to Toyota’s fiasco. Nissan will be recalling around two million vehicles worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and Asia.
The recall deals with a faulty ignition relay in which the defect which causes the engine to stall or to simply not start, which is a common problem that many people have been having. The recalls, mostly dominant in Japan, which is estimated to be around 835,000 units, while Canada and the United States come in second with 762,000 vehicles being recalled.
So what Nissan vehicles are being recalled? The vehicles that were built in the United States, Britain, Japan, China, Spain, Taiwan and China between August of 2003 to July of 2006. The makes of the vehicles will vary according to location. In the United States and Canada include the Nissan Pathfinder, Xterra, Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUV’s. In other markets, small cars like the March, Micra, Cube and the Note, as well as the bigger models.
Nissan has not disclosed just how much these repairs are expected to cost the manufacturer, however, it is not expected to jeopardize the company in any well since they only estimate that it will take mechanics and technicians twenty five minutes to make the repair.
How will this news affect Nissan? Well, when it was first released, Nissan did see their shares drop a fraction since many people believe that it reminded investors of the Toyota fiasco. Meaning that they feared that Nissan would begin to lose popularity. However, after the details were released that focused on the problem as not being one that has been associated with any car accidents the number of shares increased. The good news for Nissan is that the repair that needs to be made is nothing compared to what Toyota is having to do, thus they shouldn’t suffer too much from the recall being made.
