Nissan Leaf Fuel Mileage Released

The new Nissan Leaf, which is aimed to appeal to those environmentally conscious drivers, it estimated to get 99 miles per gallon when in the electric mode. This is only a comparison figure that is being used to demonstrate just how more fuel economical the Leaf is when compared to other cars that do not utilize the electric concept.

The Environmental Protection Agency has estimated that in city driving will be the equivalent on 106 miles per gallon and 92 miles per gallon on the highway. Nissan has said that when the car is fully charged that it can go around one hundred miles on this charge, however the Environmental Protection Agency has quoted a full battery charge to last around 73 miles per gallon. Electricity wise, it is estimated that it will cost a person around $561 a year to charge the Leaf. Compare this figure to the amount of money spent on gas a year, and you can see why the Leaf and other cars like it are dominating the public spotlight.

The only drawback of the Leaf is that it does not utilize a gas engine at all, meaning that when the battery runs out, the person is stuck. On the other hand, the Volt has a gas engine to rely upon for those long distances, which may give it more appeal to those that want a vehicle to take on trips. However, with these types of cars becoming more popular, we may begin to see more electrical stations going up that can accommodate these vehicles and provide electricity to charge the batteries.

One thing is for certain is that the new Leaf is estimated to get twice the efficiency rating of the Toyota Prius, which is a huge buying factor for the Leaf. The Nissan Leaf is going to be released in the next few weeks, and is sure to be a hit with the public.
