More Recalls for Chrysler and Volkswagen

More recalls are being issued for Chrysler. However, making its debut on the recall list is Volkswagen. Chrysler will be recalling around 367,000 minivans, one of the best selling vehicles to address a problem that could occur with air bags deploying. According to Chrysler, water that leaks out near the air conditioner and heat drain could possibly leak onto the wires that control the air bag. This could make the air bag light go on and off or just stay on. Either way, it could mean that the air bag comes out without being involved in an accident, or possibly not deploying if the car were in an accident.

The minivans being affected are the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan. However, it will only affect those minivans that are the 2008 model year.

Volkswagen has issued a recall that is going to affect around 228,000 of their vehicles. The reason that Volkswagen is issuing their recall is because of the chance of fuel line problems. The company has said that there is a small tab that is located on the windshield wiper fluid reservoir in which could be rubbing the fuel line. Over time, this could cause the fuel line to have leaks or if left alone could even mean the entire fuel line breaks. In any event, it could lead to a fire if the car were to be involved in an accident, or even if a cigarette or match is thrown too close to the vehicle.

The affected cars for VW is the Golf, Jetta, Jetta Sportswagen and the Rabbit for the 2007 through 2009 models. In addition, the 2006 through 2010 Beetles are also affected by this recall.

Both automakers are supposed to be notifying those owners with affected cars. It has not been determined if the company will cover the entire cost or not, however, more than likely they will.
