SUV Safer than Cars
It used to be that those who drove SUVs were at a higher risk of injury should they be in an accident due to the high rate of rollover possibility that these SUV's had. However, that seems to be changing according to the new research that has been done lately. The findings show that those who drive SUVs are actually safer than those that drive cars since the rollover rate of these vehicles is much less than it was years ago. So what is it about the SUV's that are giving them the advantage over cars? Years ago it was though the actual weight of the SUV was the biggest factor in helping protect people, though after studies it was found that the weight also added to the rollover risk.
Nowadays, as automakers are making the risk of rollover less prominent, it is not only the weight that helps the SUV to protect its passengers more, but it is also the height. In a study that compared cars and SUV's off the same weight, the SUV had a less of a chance of hurting its passengers because of its height. So for those that are on the market for an SUV, they can rest assure that they are getting something that is going to protect them and their family should they be involved in an accident. But what are the best SUV's in terms of safety ratings?
The Nissan Armada is considered one of the safest SUV's out there, and they give the driver and passengers plenty of room in the long run. There is also the Ford Edge SUV that was added to this list for people to consider. And the Jaguar Land Rover's Range Rover Sport and Rover LR3 SUVs are both considered some of the safest out there for families to own. So for those that were a bit hesitant to buy an SUV, they now have a reason to consider these once again.
