Time of the Buick here?
News heard all over the automotive world this past week is that the Buick brand is back. Though it never officially left, during the turmoil that General Motors was under, it was thought that the brand was going to have to be let go in order to stay afloat in a bad economy, however, thanks to GM just never giving up, it never came to that. Despite the fact that many people were urging the company to let the brand go and do cut their losses. However, most people are glad that GM did not pay attention to these people.
Thanks to the recent deal with NCAA, Buick has been able to put their name back onto the map and into the minds of those that could be potential buyers of the brand. However, their success started again during the first of this year when the brand out sold Lexus as the premier luxury mid size sedan to have. Something that was miraculous, given that just a few months before GM was being urged to shut the brand down.
The brand has been selling increasing amounts each month, thus far having around a 39% increase in sales when compared to the sales from this time last year. What has made this change happen? The brand has redone its image, providing cars that are not just for those that are older, they are gearing these offerings to be something that adults, young and old alike are loving. Plus, the presence in the foreign countries is one thing that has kept Buick on the map, it is still considered the premier brand for Chinese people to drive, given its distinct heritage in the country.
It looks like the Buick name is going to be around for many years to come, however, analysts are urging that people not start counting their chickens before they hatch. The brand still has a long way to go in order to get back to the role it had years ago as one of the most dominant in the auto market, but it is off to a good start.
