Toyota Offering Buy Outs to Employees
Toyota has offered buyout offers to a few of its management staff at its sales headquarters in California. Toyota is assuring the public that these offers are not related to the sales drop that it experienced last year or the recalls that are affecting the company. However, most people are left wondering if these aren't the reasons that Toyota has decided to make a few cuts after all.
All in all, the company offered the buyout to approximately 629 people in the sales headquarters. It has not been released if the people are taking the buyout or not. However, Toyota said that this was an effort to redevelop their organization of the company, but they do not have any target number for those that they want to take the buyout offer.
Those that were offered the buyout package are being offered a one time payment of $20,000, in addition to two weeks of pay per every year that they have been with the company, and another ten weeks of salary. No doubt, the offer package is appealing to many workers. However, with the economy the way it is, the percentage of those that are going to take the offer may be lower than Toyota expected, simply because they can find no other employment.
Toyota hopes that after these buyouts cease in the sales department that they will be able to reorder the job and the aspects that the job entails to make sure that everyone is giving one hundred percent and doing all that they can do with the time that they are alloted each day in order to make the company run a bit smoother. It has not been said if Toyota plans to use the buyouts in other areas of their company besides sales, however, time will tell if the motive behind the offer is related to bad sales in the past years and months.
