Toyota Recalls 22,000
Toyota is issuing even more recalls for a few models in their lineup due to faulty tire pressure monitoring systems. These systems could not monitor the tire properly and could eventually cause an accident because of under-inflated tires, especially if the person uses the system in order to monitor tires, which the majority of people do since that is the reason for having the system.
According to Toyota, when the systems were first shipped with the cars they did in fact work. However, with the addition of the accessory wheels, the system was not calibrated right and due to this the majority of these systems are no longer working.
There are around 22,000 affected vehicles for Toyota, which includes those vehicles that were manufactured in 2008 all the way up to 2011. The affected vehicles include the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, FJ Cruiser, and Land Cruiser. Toyota assures everyone that owns one of these affected vehicles that they will be repairing the damage free of charge at one of their dealerships near the driver.
What is this going to mean for the automaker? At this point with all the other safety recalls that Toyota has issued, this one seems to be the least of their worries since there has been no deaths or accidents caused by the problem. It seems as though they are just being proactive in making sure that they do not have a repeat of the acceleration problem from years past. This is also going to show that the stricter safety policy that Toyota has put into place is working. As the company has vowed to catch any and all problems before they begin to affect their consumers.
However, with all the recalls that Toyota is issuing, there are losing consumers who are not interested in drivings cars that are going to have a recall slapped onto them almost every month it seems. Toyota needs to get these problems straightened out before they let consumers buy their vehicles.
