Toyota Sienna Recall

More bad news for Toyota as the group announced that they would be issuing recalls for the 2011 minivan, the Sienna due to a potential problem with the brakes if the driver uses the parking brake. According to Toyota this new recall is going to affect around 110,000 Sienna's

There has been no accidents or incidents reported that could be related to the problem. However, Toyota is issuing the recall before this happens. Perhaps learning a lesson from past events and taking on the problem before they are in the situation that they currently find themselves in.

Toyota believes that if the parking brake is used, the bracket could snap. This could result in hearing a scraping noise while driving because the parking brake is dragging the ground, or in worst case scenarios it could affect the brake lights, meaning that they stay on constantly or only work every now and then. Either way, having brake lights that are not dependable is just an accident waiting to happen. Toyota believes that if the problem is allowed to persist that eventually Sienna owners could find that they gradually lose braking power.

Toyota expects to start notifying owners if their Sienna is being recalled, however, repairs are having to wait until the parts arrive in February.

This year, Toyota has recalled around 6.75 million vehicles, which means that the once top of the ladder automaker has been knocked down a few steps. However, a recent study still found that people were still considering purchasing a Toyota even after all of these recalls and the tarnished reputation. With the new recall, the statistics will more than likely stay the same. Since the last recalls that have resulted in going to court, Toyota has been quick to issue and fix the problems that they find, meaning that they have learned their lesson, so they should not have to worry about their reputation too much with this latest recall.
