Toyota Talks about Future
Toyota has said that their global output will not return to normal until around November, meaning six months from now. Though they are trying day in and day out to make sure that they are getting produced what they should be producing, the disasters that happened in Japan are really affecting them all over the globe. The President of Toyota has apologized to those that are waiting for the new cars to come off the line. However, in Japan this week all the plants that are owned by Toyota went back to work, though it was only at a half time production level since they are still working with electrical outages and so forth.
Toyota has estimated that due to the time that they have been unable to produce, they have lost the sale of around 260,000 cars. There are professionals in the auto industry that are predicting that this setback is going to cause the company from taking the top spot among auto makers this year. However, with the disasters that have happened, this is not going to come as a shock to most people.
The concerns of people throughout the world concerning Japanese automobiles are ranging from them having possible radioactive contamination to simply not using all the parts that are needed in order to produce these cars since parts have been on a shortage as well. In response to the radioactivity concern, Japanese automakers are checking the car before they even leave the country to go somewhere else to be sold, and thus far they have had no problems with the level of radioactivity that the cars are having.
Toyota did have some good news, come July there could be many vehicles that are back to normal production. Right now it is simply a game of wait and see and hope for the best as they continue to struggle forward in a hard market.
