UAW Meets Discusses Important Issues

The UAW had a bargaining convention this week where they met to discuss may issues. However, probably the main event that most people were talking about was Eminem being the spokesperson for Chrysler. And the showing of the commercial that did have to be shown numerous times to those in attendance since they loved it so much. However, there were a few key issues that were talked about that those who work in the automotive sector are going to want to make sure that they are up-to-date on. 

First off, most people were assuming that the UAW problems that have been occurring in various states throughout the United States would put a damper on the UAW meeting with German and Asian automakers in order to discuss operating with the UAW in the US. However, that does not seem to be the case, as the UAW president is all for moving forward and getting those new deals rather than dwelling on the right now problems. President of the UAW, Bob King said that he was pushing the German automakers to set up with unions in the US, only time will tell if King's efforts are going to be rewarded. 

Another issue that was hot during the meeting was the fact that Ford's CEO took millions of dollars as a bonus. Most people are certain that this is going to cost Ford when it comes time to negotiations with UAW. Most people's mindset is if they could afford to give their CEO such a bonus that their regular workers could get a bonus and that shouldn't be a problem. Given that the workers have made many concessions over the past four years for Ford to keep it from going under, it seems the least that Ford could do. And as most people know, Ford could go on strike if they do not get what they want, which would jeopardize the company more so than anything.
