VW Enters Middle Class Market

The Detroit Auto Show was full of new cars being introduced to the public for the first time. Included in that list of new automakers is the all new Volkswagen Passat that was redesigned in order to compete in the middle-class auto market. This will be Volkswagen's first attempt to go into this market, and thus far professionals in the field are impressed with what the company has introduced.

Looks wise, the Passat is more similar to other mid size cars in the market such as the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Honda Accord. Price wise, the Passat is expected to cost around $20,000, which means that it is in direct competition with most cars in the middle class market. However, many professionals are wondering if the Passat will be the car that the American population goes for. The simple reason behind this is that professionals are calling the car a bit plain. However, if you consider the reputation that VW has as producing quality, German engineered cars with safety features that are ahead of its time, then many people could turn to the Passat as their car of choice.

The current Passat is four inches longer than the previous Passat, and one inch wider. The gas mileage of the car is something that is going to be of interest to the public as well. The diesel version of the car is offering 43 miles per gallon on the highway, while the gas version will offer 32 miles per gallon or 28 miles per gallon depending on the size of engine that the consumer gets.

For the price of the Passat, there are going to be features that the public will get that otherwise they would not. For example, remote start, climate control and other features that are usually found on much higher end cars. Though many are uncertain if the car will dominate the sales market, it is clear that the public will have much to consider when purchasing their next mid-size sedan.
